CB'S ROOKIES

The story behind the name

Christopher Boyle, “CB,” who was born with global apraxia is the inspiration behind this organization. Chris has a tireless devotion to education as well as a passion for athletics that has motivated teachers and students alike to open up opportunities for him to become part of many sports programs in his community. It is that same sense of community that was the driving force behind why his sister, Braeden Boyle, decided to create this program here at Penn State.​

Braeden Boyle founded CB's Rookies her freshman year at Penn State. The organization was officially recognized as a Penn State Student Organization in November of 2016. 

 

The program has grown and now reaches out to several people within the community from Penn State student members, local middle school staff/students, Penn State staff, athletic coordinators, coaches, and student athletes.

On December 9, 2017 Braeden and Christopher Boyle received PSU's Men's Basketball Hometown Hero Award on behalf of the club.

A small thanks...

Having the opportunity to establish CB's Rookies at Penn State has truly been one of the most fulfilling experiences I have had the privilege of taking part in. â€‹Through creating this club I have been introduced to some of the most remarkable people without whom this organization would not exist. A huge thank you my advisors, Jenny and Katie, all the Penn State athletic staff that has teamed up with us, the teachers that have welcomed us into their classrooms, the students who joined our cause as well as the students we work with, and of course my family, I love you all so much.
